Tibetan Group wants to relocate to Brooklyn Park
The Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota plans to relocate from St. Paul to a retail location by Home Depot on Boone Avenue. The store has been vacant for 17 years, and the nonprofit wants to turn it into classroom and assembly space. The foundation’s goal is to follow the teachings of the Dalai Lama and preserve Tibetan culture.
“As diverse as Brooklyn Park is, we hope to make this beautiful city continue to prosper and thrive with our Tibetan culture and traditions,” explained a representative of the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota to the Brooklyn Park City Council on Monday night.
Representatives say there’s a large Tibetan culture in the northwest metro.
The City Council approved the land use for the nonprofit at Monday’s city council meeting.
