Three Wounded, Seven Arrested in Brooklyn Park Shooting
A shooting in Brooklyn Park followed a prearranged sale of shoes that led to three people injured and seven arrests, police said.
Officers say the shooting happened in the 3600 block of Brookdale Drive North around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. At the scene, officers found 15 shell casings and one person with gunshot wounds.
“While one officer was en route to the call, she noticed a vehicle that had a large smear of blood up and down one of the doors,” said Brooklyn Park police Inspector Elliot Faust. “Pretty good clue this might be involved. She was able to pull over that vehicle in the 4900 block of Brookdale Drive and located two shooting victims inside.”
Additional suspects were located at other homes nearby. Police said a car left one of the homes police were checking on. After a brief chase onto Brookdale Drive and then Highway 252, an officer was able to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver, police said.
Faust said the investigation continues in this particular case. He also noted that as the weather warms up, officers are ready for any corresponding uptick in crime.
“We’ve been planning for this. We’ve been talking about it. We’ve been making staffing changes to try to account for what we are trying to predict,” said Faust. “None of us have a crystal ball to predict, but we certainly are trying to make preparations to re-route our staffing and resources to account for it.”
