Three Rivers Hosts ‘Nature on Tap’: Part Happy Hour, Part Buckthorn Buster
You can learn about buckthorn and other environmental issues through a special education series hosted by the Three Rivers Park District. The series, called “Nature on Tap,” will feature buckthorn and other invasive species on April 14.
Buckthorn is an invasive shrub that can grow into a small tree. It grows and spreads rapidly, choking out native plants.
The learning event is meant to be relaxed and casual.
“You can bring a beer or wine if you’d like. We kind of have a little bit of a social time. A lot of times we have just a bonfire and people can hang out and we can talk about whatever, it doen’t have to be nature related. Sometimes it is,” described Ashley Smith, interpretive naturalist at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park.
“Nature on Tap” requires registration at least two days in advance and is only for adults 21 and up. Visitors check in at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park.
