Three Local Teachers Make Semifinalist List for Teacher of the Year
Three teachers representing three school districts in the CCX News viewing area have advanced as semifinalists for Education Minnesota’s Teacher of the Year.
They are Mary Betland, who teaches English and language arts at Jackson Middle School in Champlin in the Anoka-Hennepin District; Lauren Hoof, who teaches kindergarten at Birch Grove Elementary in Brooklyn Park in the Osseo District; and Eric Zuccola, who teaches English and is the newspaper advisor at Cooper High School in the Robbinsdale District.
Education Minnesota says there were initially 77 candidates from across the state.
A panel will now narrow down the field of 25 to 19 finalists. It’s expected to do this sometime in March. The winner will be revealed at a banquet tentatively scheduled for May 1.
