Theodore Wirth Park Prepares for Cross Country World Cup
The year 2020 is shaping up to be a big year for Theodore Wirth Park in Golden Valley. In March, the park will play host to the fastest skiers in the world, at the Cross Country World Cup.
For the first time in 19 years, the Cross Country World Cup will be back in the United States. The fastest skiers in the world will make their way to Theodore Wirth Park in Golden Valley. Organizers have named the event, the Parallel 45 Winter Festival.
Organizers are excited that all eyes will once again be on Minnesota.
“As a cross country skier, I’m incredibly excited, because this will be the first time in almost 20 years that the United States has hosted the cross country skiing World Cup,” said Heidi Ledermann, a spokeswoman from the Loppet Foundation. “However, as an employee of the Loppet Foundation, I’m also really excited for the global opportunity that this will give us, to talk about our mission to create a shared passion for the outdoors, especially with the under-served youth in this community.”
The Loppet Foundation is also in need of volunteers to help with the event, which takes place March 14-17, 2020.
