Theo Wirth Park Hosts March 4 BIPOC Snowboarding Event
Theodore Wirth Park will be host to a free snowboarding celebration on Saturday.
Burton snowboards is turning the tubing hill into a banked slalom course for snowboarders.
The Cultural Wellness Center of Minneapolis and its Melanin in Motion initiative teamed up The Loppet Foundation and Burton for the event, which aims to connect people from historically marginalized communities and backgrounds with outdoor recreation opportunities.
“If you have a snowboard, and live on the south side, the north side, live northeast, live in the city, walk over, catch a bus, get dropped off, and come try snowboarding,” said Anthony Taylor with the Cultural Wellness Center.
The event starts at 8:30 a.m. It will include special stunts performed by Burton-sponsored professionals as part of its “Mystery Series.”
