Sutton Elected Robbinsdale Mayor; Blackledge, Greenberg Win Council Seats
Voters in the city of Robbinsdale elected a new mayor, while also electing two council members.
Bradley Sutton will become Robbinsdale mayor, replacing longtime city leader Bill Blonigan, who retired from city office after serving for 44 years.
Sutton ran unopposed. He takes over having spent the past 25 years in an HR technology and consulting career. He and his family have lived in Robbinsdale since 2016.
Blonigan first served as council member for 40 years, then the last four years as mayor. His many years of service was recognized by U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar in the Congressional Record.

Meanwhile, voters elected two council members.
In Ward 1, voters elected Raymond Blackledge, who received 66 percent of the vote and 955 total votes, while Charles Austinson received 33 percent and 474 votes.
Blackledge works for Southeast Service Cooperative, a nonprofit that delivers administrative services support to public and private schools. He also works as a track coach at Armstrong High School.
He replaces Regan Murphy, who has represented Ward 1 since 2023. Murphy, a former Robbinsdale mayor, chose not to run for re-election.
In Ward 2, Greenberg defeated David Dirkers, a rematch of a special election earlier this year.
Greenberg received 71 percent of the vote and 1,417 total votes, while Dirkers had 29 percent and 574 votes.
Prior to his election, Greenberg served on the Robbinsdale Planning Commission for eight years and on the Community Advisory Committee for the Blue Line Extension since 2021.
Greenberg works as a sales manager for a Minneapolis software company.
