Suit: West Lutheran H.S. Failed to Stop Sexual Harassment
The Minnesota Department of Human Rights announced a lawsuit Thursday against West Lutheran High School in Plymouth. The suit accuses the school of failing to stop the sexual harassment of a ninth-grade student.
The lawsuit claims West Lutheran High School failed to protect a ninth-grade girl from multiple incidents of inappropriate touching, bullying and sexual harassment by other students. The alleged incidents occurred in the 2014-2015 school year.
According to the suit, the school made initial attempts to discipline the students, but eventually accused the girl of lying and barred her from attending the school the following year. The suit says the girl’s father tried to show school leaders what he considered “incriminating social media posts,” but officials declined to look at them.
CCX News did reach out to West Lutheran for comment. West Lutheran says they have not been presented with any legal papers yet. The school says they are working on a statement, but we had not heard back as of this taping.
