Student Arrested in Firearms Incident at Golden Valley School
Golden Valley police responded to an incident Thursday at Robbinsdale Academy-Highview school that police said involved a firearm.
According to police, Golden Valley officers and Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at around noon Thursday at the school, located at 2400 Sandburg Lane in Golden Valley.
Officers had received a report of a student threatening another student with a firearm, police said. When police arrived, a firearm was recovered.
A juvenile suspect was arrested without further incident, police said.
“Juveniles having access to guns and bringing them to school threatens the safety of the entire school community,” said Assistant Chief Alice White in a statement to CCX News. “This criminal behavior cannot be taken lightly, especially in our current climate.”
Robbinsdale Academy-Highview is an alternative high school serving students in grades nine through 12.
No further details about the incident were made available. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
