Student Arrested After False Bomb Threat at Osseo Area Learning Center
Brooklyn Park police arrested a juvenile student Thursday following a bomb threat at a school turned out to be unfounded, police said.
Police responded to a report of a bomb threat at around 7:50 a.m. at Osseo Area Learning Center, located at 7300 Boone Ave. N., in Brooklyn Park. According to a police news alert, the school received an email “indicating a bomb had been planted in the school and was set to detonate.”
“In an abundance of caution the school was evacuated and a bomb sniffing canine was utilized to check for explosives,” read a police statement. “No explosive materials were located, and nobody was harmed.”
An investigation into the incident led detectives to a juvenile student, police said. That student was taken into custody for alleged threats of violence and is currently being held at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.
The Osseo Area Learning Center is an alternative high school serving students in grades nine through 12. The school offers personalized instruction for students whose needs are better met outside a traditional high school environment.
