‘Stranger Things’ Finale Gets Big Screen Treatment at Plymouth Movie Theater
The long-awaited finale to the hit Netflix show “Stranger Things” is happening later this month and die-hard fans will have the opportunity to watch it on the big screen.
Emagine Willow Creek in Plymouth is one of eight movie theaters in the Twin Cities that will welcome fans on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to watch the two-hour finale.
Tim Holly, director of creative and alt programming for Emagine Entertainment, said they were alerted that Netflix was going to offer a small number of theaters the opportunity to show the finale and they immediately jumped on the opportunity.
“We are always looking for opportunities to offer special and unique experiences for our guests outside of the regular films coming from the studios, such as live concerts, UFC broadcasts, the MET Opera, etc.,” said Holly. “So the opportunity to be able to host this for fans of “Stranger Things,” to watch it in the best way possible with premium projection and sound, and in a packed theater with other fans, is something we were ecstatic to be able to offer.”

The two-hour series finale of “Stranger Things” will premier on Dec. 31.
Willow Creek will have four different showings of the “Stranger Things” finale over the course of the two days, however, many of the seats sold quickly. Holly says it’s a testament to the large-scale appeal of the show.
“This series has clearly tapped into the zeitgeist in a special way,” said Holly. “It plays into nostalgia while updating it and introducing a new generation to beloved pop culture in TV, books, movies, music and more from the past in exciting ways. This final season seems to be the culmination of all of this.”
Holly says they’re attempting to add additional shows, but they have to contend with the fact that there’s already a full slate of films coming out for the holidays.
Those lucky enough to score tickets to the “Stranger Things” finale are encouraged to come dressed up, as long as the costumes don’t detract from the experience of those around them in the theater.
