State Senate Dist. 38 DFL Primary Results, Pha over Hiltsley
In a primary contest for Senate District 38’s DFL candidate, Susan Pha won over Huldah Hiltsley with 62 percent of the vote.
Hiltsley is a Kenyan-American, and is active in the local Kenyan organization Mwanyagetinge. Susan Pha is a Hmong-American and made history as the first woman of color on the Brooklyn Park city council. Pha represents the West District on the council.
Pha will now face Republican candidate Brad Kohler and Legal Marijuana Now candidate Mary O’Connor in the November election.
Senate District 38 has been represented by Chris Eaton since 2011. Eaton championed legislation fighting opioid abuse and advocating for opioid addiction treatment. She announced in August 2021 she would not seek re-election.
