Standout Student: HCA’s Jared Penshorn has many interests
Jared Penshorn is involved in many activities at Heritage Christian Academy, but has a passion for environmental science and the outdoors. He hopes to do something outdoors as a future career.
“Oh my, there’s a lot I do here.”
Jared Penshorn is sort of a jack-of-all-activities at Heritage Christian Academy.
“One of my big loves is music. I’m in the band and the choir. I play trumpet,” said Penshorn.
He also sings tenor in choir and sings bass in another choir.
“God’s gifted me with a pretty expanded vocal range so I can sing a lot,” chuckled Penshorn.
And his interests don’t stop there.
Penshorn loves to play baseball and he can dance too.
But he really enjoys being outside.
“He loves to spend time in the Boundary Waters,” said Jackie Zachay, who is has taught Penshorn science for many years. “He’s an avid fisherman and he has a great respect for the outdoors.”
Penshorn hopes to do something in environmental science as a career.
“I want to do sort of what’s in my power to help protect that for future generations, but also for my enjoyment later in life,” said Penshorn. “I’m a big wilderness canoe-er. I absolutely love to be out in the woods and on lakes and on rivers.”
