Standout Student: Cooper’s Luwam Zerome
Luwam Zerome is captain of the cheerleading squad at Cooper High School. She excels at academics and extra-curricular activities and has a heart for her community.
“She was really, really shy back in the day,” said Tim Darsow, a teacher. “But she’s grown into an outgoing person. I know she takes a lot of challenges on. She’s involved in a lot of different activities.”
Yet, Luwam Zerome stands out at Cooper High School.
“She works hard,” said Tim Darsow, one of Zerome’s teachers. “She takes hard classes, is committed to her school and cares about her school.”
Zerome says the belief that Cooper is like a family is accurate.
“It’s definitely true,” said Zerome. “That Cooper is more like a family compared to other schools.”
Zerome plans to go to a four-year college one day to study social media.
But while in high school, she keeps busy. She serves on the student council, she’s on the Student Advisory to the board of education, and she’s also captain of the cheerleading squad for football and basketball.
How does Luwam do it all?
“Time management is definitely a thing,” said Zerome.
