Standout Student: Champlin Park’s Andre Hardy
Champlin Park High School senior Andre Hardy really stands out among his peers. He and one other Champin Park student are semifinalists for a National Merit Scholarship.
“The practice SAT was scored out of 1520 and I got a 1480,” beamed Hardy.
Hardy currently has a 3.93 GPA. He speaks French and is a member of the French Honor Society. Hardy is also learning Italian. Those languages will come in handy, considering Hardy wants to study international politics.
He will find out in a few weeks whether he becomes a National Merit finalist. He has also applied to a variety of Ivy League schools and is leaning toward Columbia University.
The inspiring teen says he wants to change the world by motivating others and it seems to already be working. Close friend Austin Gore says he looks up to Hardy.
“I’m a very competitive person myself so just trying to keep up with him and stay on his level is what motivates me,” said Gore. “I don’t know how he does it, but he’s so motivating himself, he just somehow manages to get everything done.”
When he’s not hitting the books, Hardy likes to get his creative juices flowing. He wants to go into acting or write a musical. The ambitious student has participated in several school productions. He also plays several instruments.
“I play cello for the school, and in my personal time I play guitar, bass, ukulele and some piano,” said Hardy.
The sky is the limit for this standout student.
“There’s a world of almost infinite possibilities and that everyday could be a day that I look back when I’m older saying ‘wow, I really made something of that day,'” said Hardy.
