St. Raphael School Celebrates End of Year with Rocket Launch
You could say students at St. Raphael Catholic School in Crystal had quite the blast for an end-of-school-year celebration.
Sixteen eighth-grade students at the school got to launch rockets.
Students from the entire school get to watch the launch, a tradition St. Raphael has done for several years now.
For educators and staff, the rocket launch is part educational, part symbolic.
“We’re a pretty small school. We have 150 kids total. So what that means is the teachers don’t just know their own classes, they work with all of the classes that we have in the school,” said Joan Wieland, director of mission, events and communication at St. Raphael. “So when eighth grade gets to celebrate their last day of school today, the rest of us are celebrating with them, and it’s going to be sad to see them go.”
