SOAR Regional Arts Presents “Anne of Green Gables”
SOAR Regional Arts is getting ready for opening night of its latest production, “Anne of Green Gables.”
CCX News caught up with Olivia Dembouski and Olivia Lampert rehearsing for the play, which opens Thursday night.
“Anne of Green Gables is a lighthearted play, but there is some deeper messages in there about found family and finding a place where you belong where you might not seem to fit in at face value,” said Dembouski, who plays Diana.
The SOAR production is an an adaptation of the 1908 novel of “Anne of Green Gables.”
The story is focused on an 11-year-old orphan girl, Anne, who’s trying to find her way in life. While she finds her way, she helps others do the same.
“Imagination and creativity are Anne’s bywords and I hope that people would come out with a sense of, ‘So, it’s not only about her fitting in.’ It’s about other people changing to see her as the outsider as a valuable participant or individual within their own community,” said Mary Cutler, the show director.
“My favorite part about playing her is that she’s unapologetically herself and that’s just a beautiful gift to have,” said Lampert, who plays Anne.
Performances run Thursday, May 9, through Sunday, May 12 at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West auditorium. Showtimes and ticket information are available here.
