UPDATE: Cooper High School Fire Contained to Smaller Office
Cooper High School Principal Frank Herman says a fire that disrupted the school day Wednesday caused was contained to a smaller office room. He indicated the damage could have been worse.
Firefighters in New Hope responded to the fire early Wednesday afternoon at Cooper High School. Firefighters first got the call at 12:49 p.m. When they arrived, sprinklers were on and smoke filled hallways. The fire was extinguished quickly.
West Metro-Fire Rescue District firefighters are investigating the cause. Herman said there’s possible damage to Chromebooks and iPads stored in the office room. No one was inside the room at the time, Herman said. He says investigators are looking at a computer battery that may have started the fire.
Students were dismissed for the day due to the fire. School is out of session Thursday and Friday for MEA break.
