Seven Dreams Foundation Raises Money for Middle School Wellness Centers
The Seven Dreams Foundation is preparing for its annual Bird Bash fundraiser which will raise money for eight wellness centers, two in each of the district’s middle schools. One wellness center will be for students and the other will be for staff.
“It’s just become critical to support students and staff in positive mental health areas,” said Patsy Green, co-chair of this year’s Bird Bash. “The pandemic, with COVID and all the changes with the school has really impacted our students and staff. Students are coming back, and especially in middle schools, are disconnected. They missed those key transition supports going into middle school.”
The wellness centers will be a “quiet, comfortable place with sensory tools, music and opportunities for self-care so students can relax, feel a sense of belonging and be ready to learn so that staff are rejuvenated and ready to teach.”
The goal is to raise more than $50,000 for these wellness centers, which would include not only furniture and fixtures for the spaces, but a dedicated staff person to supervise the student wellness space. The project would also help fund community experts and service providers that would come into the schools to support student and staff wellness.
Green says the idea for the wellness centers came from the staff.
