Sen. Hoffman Sponsors Bill to Change Osseo School Board
An issue that has come up several times in the public comments at Osseo School Board meetings now is getting some attention at the state level.
Sen. John Hoffman, DFL-Champlin, says he has been approached by several constituents from Brooklyn Bark who say they are upset that they aren’t adequately represented on the Osseo School Board. They would prefer a ward system, like Anoka-Hennepin’s school board, instead of electing members at large.
“Hopefully the school board will listen to constituents that are asking them to rethink how representation is done on the school board,” said Hoffman. “I think It should be equal across the board. Should absolutely be a representation of what the community looks like.:
Hoffman sponsored a bill for a policy change. However, under such legislation, the Osseo School Board would need to vote on the change.
