Saturday is Drug Take Back Day
This Saturday, April 27, is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. It’s a way to prevent prescription drugs from ending up in the wrong hands.
One drop-off site is at the Robbinsdale Hy-Vee parking lot. You can drop off any unneeded or unused medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
“This is one way that we found that we could provide a service to the community having a location where they could drop off their unwanted medications rather than let them get into the community where they could cause a problem for others,” said Patrick Murphy, Hy-Vee pharmacy manager.
If you are unable to drop off medications Saturday, Hennepin County libraries and several local police departments also collect unused medications.
Partnership for Change, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, North Memorial Health and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration teamed up to sponsor the event. One note, the collection site cannot take liquids or needles. Drop-off is free and no questions are asked.
