Salsa Company Considers New Hope Production Facility
The owners of a salsa company is considering New Hope for a new production facility, city documents revealed.
Little Sombrero Salsa is considering a location at 3980 Quebec Ave. N., an industrial facility.
According to city documents, the company plans to apply for up to $185,000 through the state’s Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF). The loan funds would help the company purchase equipment that would allow it to produce nearly 50 bottles of salsa per minute.
Applying for funds would also require approval from the city of New Hope, which would serve as a pass-through entity by helping to administer the loan funds.
Little Sombrero Salsa has been in communication with stores around the country, city documents further showed. The company expects a capital investment of $763,000 to prepare the New Hope facility.
If plans go through, the MIF assistance would create 31 to 40 full-time jobs within a two-year period. The jobs would have an average pay of $20 per hour.
Terms of the MIF incentives through the state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development include a forgivable loan of $50,000 and a $135,000 loan repayable at 0 percent interest over five years.
