Rock Elm Tavern To Host Screening of Menopause Documentary
A new women’s clinic in Plymouth is on a mission to educate people about a topic they say is often misunderstood: menopause.
“So hot flashes, brain fog, insomnia, low libido,” said Ivy Emery of Harmoni Wellness in Plymouth, describing the most common symptoms of menopause. “But there are 34-plus documented symptoms of menopause and perimenopause, so when you think about 34 symptoms, it’s a moving target.”
Emery is a nurse practitioner and co-owner of Harmoni Wellness, a clinic in Plymouth that focuses solely on women’s health issues.
The clinic is partnering with Plymouth’s Rock Elm Tavern this week to screen a documentary called “The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause.”
The film presents evidence-based solutions to challenge the negativity associated with menopause and empowers women to take control of their health.
One of Emery’s patients, who’s seen the film, said it brought about a feeling of validation.
“I think the feeling is validation, one that, maybe you are not imagining some of these symptoms, that other people are in the same boat as you,” said Misty Bowe, a patient from Chaska. “And so, it was just refreshing to be around other women in a similar situation and hear from the experts.”
The film screening at Rock Elm Tavern is Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.
