Robbinsdale’s 2020 Whiz Bang Days Canceled
Whiz Bang Days has been canceled.
The committee that organizes Whiz Bang Days in Robbinsdale has canceled the summer festival due to the uncertainty surrounding the novel coronavirus. They made the announcement Saturday, May 2.
“Our decision was made in partnership with the city of Robbinsdale, our local businesses, volunteers, and community members in mind,” read a statement sent out by Whiz Bang Days Secretary Pam Scheiller. “We know that many of our local businesses and sponsors of Whiz Bang Days are struggling because of the current situation and we can’t in our right mind ask them for donations. As they support Whiz Bang Days year after year, it is now time for us to come together and support them.”
The statement also mentioned the decision to cancel wasn’t an easy one and an announcement made with “great sadness” and “a heavy heart.”
The date for the festival in 2021 has been set for July 8-11.
This year would’ve marked the 72nd year of Robbinsdale’s Whiz Bang Days, making it one of the older celebrations in the state. It typically takes place the second weekend of July.
