Robbinsdale Welcomes Mama Lupita’s Restaurant
The Robbinsdale City Council has approved a wine and Sunday sales liquor license for Mama Lupita’s Taqueria Cafe & Grill. The license approval vote on Tuesday allowed the Robbinsdale community to learn about the new restaurant, which actually has been open for several months.
Located in the Robbinsdale Town Center at 4080 West Broadway, Mama Lupita’s specializes in Caribbean and Central American foods. The restaurant also serves breakfast.
“The breakfast side, it’s All-American breakfast, what you’d expect to have. We do have some items on the menu that are pretty health conscious,” said owner Jeovani Gomez, who also owns El Toro Mexican Restaurant in Robbinsdale.
A specialty of Mama Lupita’s is pupusa, a thick griddle cake or flatbread from El Salvador and Honduras, made with cornmeal or rice flour.
Robbinsdale City Council member George Selman gave the new restaurant an unsolicited endorsement at this week’s council meeting.
“We have marvelous meals there,” said Selman. “If you haven’t tried it, give it a try, I think you’ll be impressed.”
