Robbinsdale Superintendent Candidates Narrowed Down to Two
The selection for Robbinsdale Area Schools’ next superintendent has been narrowed down to two candidates. Both have ties to the metro area.
David Engstrom is a deputy superintendent of the Colorado Springs school district, which has 26,000 students. He runs the academic side of the district. Engstrom also has worked as a principal and assistant principal in Colorado, but also taught business and marketing in Anoka.
Dr. Kim Heil is currently the superintendent of Fridley Public Schools and has been there for three years. She was also an assistant superintendent of Osseo Area Schools. She started her career teaching in the Robbinsdale district and was a principal at the School of Engineering and the Arts in Golden Valley.
The school board interviewed five candidates for the job on April 12 and 13. The board voted on advancing Engstrom and Heil and they will have interviews on April 15 and 16, with the community members having the opportunity to submit questions.
