Robbinsdale House Fire Traced to Computer Router
A fire Sunday night in Robbinsdale appears to have been started by a faulty computer router, police told CCX News on Tuesday.
Robbinsdale police arrived shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, to find smoke building up inside a home in the 4200 block of York Avenue N.
The homeowners were not there at the time, but noticed the issue remotely through interior cameras, police said.
Police officers who arrived first at the scene rescued two Australian Shepherd dogs by kicking in the front door.
“Preserving life is a fundamental pillar in law enforcement. This is not only human life, it extends to all life,” said Captain John Elder in a press release. “These officers were unwilling to wait for the fire departments to arrive on the scene to ensure the animals safety. This was simply the right and compassionate response to this call.”
Neighbors were on the phone with the homeowners and communicated with police that the dogs were inside.
Robbinsdale firefighters located the fire in the basement and were able to put it out before it caused any major structural damage to the home, police said.
