Road Closures Begin Monday for West Broadway Bridge Project
With the ebbing of winter comes road construction season. You could say that unofficially begins on Monday with a road closure for the West Broadway bridge project at the Robbinsdale-Minneapolis border.
Crews will install bridge beams for the deck of the new northbound bridge on West Broadway starting Monday. The job will require a large crane to secure the four remaining beams. Officials from Hennepin County say the beam installation is an activity that requires crews to be especially careful, so they are planning to close the intersection of Lowry Avenue and Theodore Wirth Parkway, which is directly below the bridge, on Monday and Tuesday.
Hennepin County is planning to put up signs for people traveling through the area to let them know about the detours. The county urges people to follow the signed detours to keep the local streets safe for families who live in the area.
Meanwhile, the county expects construction to last throughout the summer.
You can follow the project on Hennepin County’s website, here.
