Rice Lake Elementary Adding Six Classrooms to Ease Overcrowding
Construction is underway on a six-classroom addition at Rice Lake Elementary in Maple Grove. The addition should relieve overcrowding at the school, but staff members hope the addition becomes a space that people can get excited about.
“This six-classroom addition is more of a collaborative design where classrooms can move from their classroom space into a common space in the middle and share that space in the middle with other students,” said Dale Carlstrom, director of facilities and transportation at Osseo Schools.
Crews are also building a large gym that will serve as a storm shelter, additional parking and an outdoor classroom.
The Maple Grove City Council approved the project earlier this year.
