Retrial Underway For Man Accused of Murdering Realtor in Maple Grove
Six years after realtor Monique Baugh was allegedly lured to a fake house showing in Maple Grove and killed, one of the people charged with the crime is headed back to the courtroom.
A retrial is underway for Lyndon Akeem Wiggins, who was convicted along with his alleged co-conspirators of Baugh’s kidnap and murder.
On New Year’s Eve in 2019, prosecutors said 28-year-old Baugh was called to a sham house showing in the 8300 block of Niagara Avenue in Maple Grove. Police say after she arrived at the house a U-Haul van showed up. According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video showed a person forcibly walking someone into the van before driving away.
Baugh’s body was found later that day in a north Minneapolis alley.
She had been shot three times with a .45 caliber handgun and her hands were bound, according to police.
Her boyfriend was also shot in a home in north Minneapolis, but he ultimately survived.

Wiggins was convicted of the crime in June 2022 and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release.
Others convicted for involvement in the case were Cedric Berry, Berry Davis and Elsa Segura.
An appeal to the state Supreme Court identified incorrect jury instructions that could’ve significantly impacted the verdict.
As a result, the charges were vacated in April 2024.
A new jury trial for Wiggins started on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
