Residents Brainstorm Future of Crystal Frolics
The volunteers who organizer the annual Crystal Frolics festival say they need more volunteers. They will partner with the city to reimagine what the festival will look like when Becker Park is completed.
“It’s gotten to the point where I need help if we are going to change this,” said Lynn Haney, a longtime volunteer and president of the organizing committee. “We need volunteers to come in and be willing to work at Frolics and work beforehand with planning.”
Crystal Frolics has long been associated with a major men’s softball tournament. But festival organizers want to expand options when Becker Park construction is completed.
Community members and organizers of the festival sat down Monday night for a brainstorming session. The city of Crystal plans to partner with Crystal Frolics in some capacity.
“We have to figure out the scope and what our involvement is going to be,” said Mayor Jim Adams. “This is going to be a trial run this first year.”
One possible idea is having the festival in two locations with multiple activities at both Becker Park and Welcome Park, where the softball tournament is played.
