47 Cats Found Inside Car Recovering at Golden Valley Shelter
Golden Valley Animal Humane Society Helping Rescued Cats
The Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley is playing a vital role in helping dozens of cats rescued from a car at a rest stop.
On Tuesday, investigators rescued 47 cats from a car that someone was living in at a rest stop off I-35 in Chisago County.
Investigator Ashley Pudas says the person living in the car called the Animal Humane Society to say he needed help with the animals. Before that rescue, the person surrendered an additional 15 cats. Pudas says it’s an example of the complex nature of animal hoarding.
“Nobody wakes up and says ‘I’m going to have 47 cats today in my car.’ Nobody goes out and gets this amount of animals. It’s something that’s progressive and happens over time,” said Pudas. “It typically stems from some type of traumatic event that happens in their life and continually progresses.”
Pudas says the cats only have minor health issues and the cats will be available for adoption soon. Check back to the Animal Humane Society’s website for details.
