Remodel Work Coming to Plymouth City Hall
The Plymouth City Council this week approved a project that would remodel the lower level of Plymouth City Hall.
The lower level is home to the city’s community development and engineering departments. It’s an area that hasn’t seen any major improvements since the 1990s.
The renovations call for new furniture, stand-up desks and lower walls for office cubicles to encourage collaboration between employees.
“It’s going to open up the spaces, it’s going to lighten up the spaces, make it more modern than, say, some of the outdated fixtures that are there,” said Chris Mehrkens, Plymouth’s fleet and facilities supervisor. “It’s also a lot more accommodating to a lot of the groups that are going to be coming in.”
The city of Plymouth has already renovated the office space on the main level of city hall.
Work on the latest Plymouth City Hall remodel will begin in December and finish up in May. The estimated cost is $1.3 million.
