Red Cross Makes Urgent Plea for Blood Donations
The Fourth of July holiday week resulted in fewer blood donations. That has the American Red Cross making an urgent plea this week.
The Red Cross says it has less than a three-day supply of most blood types available. Typically, it would like to have at least a five-day supply. Last week, there were fewer blood drives resulting in 17,000 fewer donations, officials said.
To help meet the need, the Red Cross added extra appointments at blood donation centers and local blood drives to accommodate more donors.
