Rain Doesn’t Damper First Day Spirit at Sonnesyn Elementary
Students and teachers started off the first day with excitement and maybe a few jitters at Sonnesyn Elementary School in New Hope. The weather might have been dreary, but parents and teachers lined up to cheer on students as they entered the building. If the music and pom poms didn’t create an atmosphere, the smiles of the staff certainly did.
“We like to welcome our family on a positive note,” said Principal Leia Ward. “School should be a place of learning, but also a place to have fun together. We really wanted to ramp it up this year to bring that sense of community and a sense of excitement. We are excited they are here. We’ve missed them. We are excited to have our students and staff here.”
Students seemed to enjoy the excitement as well.
Sonnesyn Elementary in New Hope is a K-5 elementary school that educates more than 400 students from the surrounding neighborhoods.
