Purpose of Golden Valley Tool Shed is to ‘Bring People Together’
Over the weekend, volunteers put the finishing touches on a tool shed to go in Golden Valley’s first community garden.
“We’ve named it the garden tool share shed, so any of the people who plant here, are able to use any of these tools,” said Michelle Christensen of One Good Deed.
Christensen’s group, ‘One Good Deed’ aims to complete one good deed each month. She applied for a grant through Nextdoor and H&R Block to build — and then fully stock — a garden shed to go in Golden Valley’s first community garden in Medley Park.
“The first and foremost priority of this is to bring the community together and have people work together,” Christensen said. “Particularly after COVID, we lost a lot of community and caring, not only for the earth, but for people in general.”
Volunteers also painted a mural on the outside of the tool shed. The community gardens will be ready and available in 2023. You can call Golden Valley City Hall to learn more about how to get on the list for a plot in the community garden.
