Public Invited to Brooklyn Center Picnic Honoring Scholarship Benefactor

Park Center Alumnus Mostafa Sarim contracted the flu and died in January 23, 2018 at age 41.

Following Sarim’s death, his family established the Moe123 Scholarship Fund for students in the Osseo Area School District.

Saturday would have been his 43rd birthday, but instead of mourning, the Sarim family is inviting people to a community picnic.

“We’re just trying to get the word out about who we are and what we’re trying to do in the community and everybody’s more than welcome to come,” said Seraj Sarim, Mostafa’s brother. “We’ll have hot dogs, hamburgers, Mountain Dew — because that was Mostafa’s favorite drink — and the sun will be out, hopefully.”

The picnic takes place Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. at West Palmer Park in Brooklyn Center.
 
Last year, five Park Center seniors each received scholarships worth $5,000 apiece.
