Pub 42 in New Hope Gets New Owners
Pub 42 in New Hope was sold recently after the previous owner decided to retire. Some council members had been concerned about the restaurant’s future.
Those concerns have been relieved.
The restaurant was sold to Ryan Brevig and Joshual Paulsen, who also own The Loop in Minneapolis, The Loop West End in St. Louis Park, as well as the Five West and Smoak BBQ restaurants in Rochester.
“Everybody I talked to, they just got glowing reports,” said New Hope City Council member John Elder.
The restaurant had been owned by Steve Wagenheim, who purchased the venue in 2013 when the Sunshine Factory moved to Plymouth. Wagenheim renamed the restaurant Pub 42 after its location at 42nd and Quebec avenues.
The new owners say they’ve been impressed by the sense of community that they have already felt at Pub 42.
“The sense of community at the pub is unlike anything we’ve ever seen in any of our other places,” said Brevig. “I’ve been told this is my living room by several regulars.”
Brevig says he doesn’t plan to make any many changes, but build on what has been established.
“We want to be here for 30 or 40 years,” he said. “We have a long-term plan.”
