Prior, Bhende, Ginestra and Eyres Elected to Wayzata School Board
Voters in the Wayzata School District elected four school board members Tuesday night.
The winning candidates Tuesday were Paras Bhende, Valentina Eyres, Dan Ginestra and Sheila Prior. Prior is the sole incumbent and was also the top vote getter. Prior received 25 percent of the vote, followed by Bhende (24 percent), Ginestra (23 percent) and Eyres (15 percent).
Two others, Alex Rudich and Mariam Siddiqui, also appeared on the ballot. All the candidates stated their platforms in recorded statements with CCX News.
The newly elected board members will replace significant experience on the board. Current board members Linda Cohen, Cheryl Polzin and Bonita Lucky did not run for re-election. Cohen served on Wayzata School Board for six terms, a total of 24 years. Polzin served three terms, while Lucky served two terms.
The school board has seven members who are elected to serve four-year terms. The terms of the newly elected school board members will begin January 2024.
The district serves residents in Maple Grove, Plymouth, Corcoran, Medicine Lake, Medina, Minnetonka, Orono and Wayzata.
