Popular New Hope Taco Shop Temporarily Closed After Two Workers Reportedly Detained by ICE
Arizona Taco Co., a popular Mexican restaurant in New Hope, was closed before Tuesday’s lunch rush after two of its employees were reportedly detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The owner of Arizona Taco Co. told CCX News the employees were apparently on their way to work when they were detained and he didn’t see it happen.
“Two good guys,” said Marcus Ayala, owner of Arizona Taco Co. “We know nothing more.”
Ayala believed both employees had all their proper paperwork and weren’t here illegally.
It’s uncertain when Arizona Taco Co. will reopen but closed Tuesday out of concern for the other employees.
Just two years ago, the New Hope restaurant expanded after acquiring an adjacent pizza venue. The expansion allowed Arizona Taco Co. to add Mexican pizzas to its menu.
CCX News reached out to ICE officials for comment, but had not yet heard back.
