Police to Provide Security at Robbinsdale Middle School
Law enforcement will have a presence at Robbinsdale Middle School when classes resume this fall.
This week, the Robbinsdale City Council is expected approve an agreement with the Robbinsdale School District to place a school resource officer (SRO) inside Robbinsdale Middle School.
The goal of having an officer on campus is to help the school district deter and prevent any sort of violence.
The district will pay the city more than $56,000 to have the officer on site for the entire school year.
The city had to pull the SRO out of Robbinsdale Middle School last year due to staffing challenges and put that officer on patrol.
“That said, the Robbinsdale Police Department continued a strong relationship and still had a presence in the school,” said Robbinsdale police Capt. John Elder. “We look forward to having an officer in the school again this year.”
Last week, city officials in Golden Valley reviewed a plan to have an officer return to two schools in the fall after a two-year hiatus.
