Police: Teen Shot, Critically Injured in Snapchat Marijuana Sale
A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot Sunday evening following what Brooklyn Park police said was a pre-arranged marijuana sale through Snapchat.
The shooting occurred at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday in a residential neighborhood on the 8400 block of 84th Court N., police said.
When officers arrived at the location, police found the teen with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Police said the teen was conscious initially, but later lost consciousness and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Brooklyn Park police established a perimeter of the surrounding area with help from Crystal police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to catch whoever fired the shots. Despite a thorough search using both K-9 units and aerial support, no suspects were found, police said.
In a press release, Brooklyn Park police spokesperson Elliot Faust said investigators are looking for “several suspects” who ran from the scene. On Tuesday Faust told CCX News that detectives continue to actively work the case, but there was no further update on suspect descriptions or arrests.
