Police Investigate Osseo High School Social Media Post
Social media creates special challenges for local school districts. Case in point: an incident on Monday required the involvement of the Osseo School District and Maple Grove police.
Osseo Senior High School contacted police following a student’s Snapchat post that was disconcerting to others. The message included the statement, “don’t come to school tomorrow.”
Investigators determined the post posed no threat to anyone’s safety. According to Maple Grove police it was simply “poor use of a few students’ use of social media.”
In a letter to parents, Osseo High School Principal Michael Lehan says he’s grateful somebody brought the post to the school’s attention. Lehan says he encourages families to report any potential safety concerns to the district’s anonymous tipline, (763) 391-8660.
The district also urges parents to talk with their children about responsible use of social media.
