Police Investigate Brooklyn Center Kidnapping, Brooklyn Park Shots-Fired Case
Both the Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center police departments are investigating a case that police say started out as a kidnapping and resulted in shots fired at a moving vehicle.
Officers initially responded Monday at 3:15 p.m. to the area of 76th and Kentucky Avenues North on a report of shots fired. A short time later, police learned of a possible kidnapping. Officers eventually located a woman who escaped from a moving car in the area of 74th and Florida Avenues North, police said.
According to Brooklyn Park police:
After officers met with the woman, police learned she had been kidnapped at gunpoint in Brooklyn Center by a suspect she had a previous relationship with. Police also later learned that the woman called another man for help and that person followed the vehicle the woman was in. The alleged victim also told police that a passenger in the suspect’s vehicle fired shots at the vehicle following behind.
No one was injured in the ordeal. However, police located a vehicle not connected to the case that was struck during the gunfire in the 7500 block of Hampshire Avenue North.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there was no report of any arrests. Police say they continue to investigate.
