Police: Fatal Brooklyn Park Shooting Traced To Family Argument
One man is dead, another facing murder charges following a weekend shooting in Brooklyn Park.
The shooting happened at a home in the 8400 block of Adair Avenue N. just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, police described the situation as a “chaotic scene” where a family gathering had been taking place. Officers soon located one person with multiple gunshot wounds to the midsection and immediately began rendering emergency medical care, police said.
The victim, identified as Nichanon Kittikroekphon, 34, of Coon Rapids, was pronounced dead at North Memorial Health Hospital.
A suspect, a 32-year-old man from Brooklyn Park, was arrested. Brooklyn Park police say several family members at the gathering tackled the man and held him down before he was taken into custody. Police also located a firearm that was believed to have been used in the shooting.
Police say the suspect and the victim were relatives.
“At one point, [the suspect] became upset with the victim after a verbal exchange, pulled out a handgun, and discharged it several times into the victim at close range,” said police in a news release.
Formal murder charges were pending in the case Monday afternoon.
