Police: Brooklyn Center Woman Hid Mother’s Body for More Than a Month
A Brooklyn Center woman is facing criminal charges after police found a grim scene at her home.
According to the criminal complaint, a 55-year-old woman hid her mother’s body for weeks after her death.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, CCX News is not naming the suspect.
Police were dispatched on Dec. 30, 2022 to a home in the 3000 block of 56th Avenue North in Brooklyn Center on a report of a deceased person.
Officers found a decomposing body in a bedroom.
A woman at the home identified the body as her mother.
She told police that her mother had died in November, saying that “while she knew it sounded ‘crazy,’ she had not reported it because she was waiting on God to resurrect her.”
The daughter had previously taken her mother to see a doctor, where she was prescribed medicine for diabetes and high blood pressure. However, she told police that instead of using the medicine, she was treating her mother “naturally.”
She had used Glade plugins, Febreze and candles to try and cover the scent. Likewise, she taped paper over the windows to prevent anyone from looking inside the home.
The daughter’s ex-husband, who lived in the basement of the home, found the mother after she had died and called police.
