Plymouth Student Wins $100,000 Scholarship for Getting COVID-19 Vaccine
Getting the COVID-19 vaccine helped land a Plymouth teen a college scholarship. Kaitlyn Knutson, 16, is the first winner of the “Kids Deserve a Shot” campaign scholarship drawing.
Knutson will receive a $100,000 scholarship. She said getting the shot allowed her to play to sport she loves — hockey.
“I chose to get vaccinated because it allows me to be with my friends and family without having to really worry about COVID as much as before,” said Knutson. “It also allows me to get to play the sport I love, hockey, while being safe.”
Knutson said the scholarship opens more opportunities for herself when picking a college and major.
All Minnesotans 12-17 years old who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series have a chance to win a $100,000 college scholarship through the “Kids Deserve a Shot” campaign. Three more drawings will take place over the next month.
