Plymouth Senior Living Community Introduces Residents to ‘Alexa’
A senior living community in Plymouth has taken steps to adapt to the digital age.
Starting in January, Trillium Woods in Plymouth provided Amazon Alexa devices to 16 of its residents at The Birches, which is the building’s on-site health center.
The Alexa device connects to an app called Soundmind. With a simple voice command, residents can ask Alexa to call health center staff or check the daily schedule.
“It was a super simple implementation and so far the residents have really enjoyed them,” said Katie Patzelt, an administrator with Life Care Services. “They’ve really enjoyed the connection that [Alexa] creates with them and their grandchildren.”
Trillium Woods is the first senior living community in the Midwest to install the technology. The service is provided at no cost to residents.
