Plymouth Restaurant Rallies To Support Coworker Battling Cancer
Employees at a Plymouth restaurant are rallying to help one of their coworkers who’s fighting for his life.
Sal Quiros, the kitchen manager at Northern Taphouse in Plymouth, was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this summer.
“He’s pretty much the reason why we have such a well-oiled machine in the back of the house,” said Sarah Hellman, a server at Northern Taphouse. “He’s amazing with all of our staff. Just a very calm, loving human being.”
Quiros is currently undergoing a six month-long treatment program. And to make matters worse, he lost his wife last week to a different health issue.
To help Quiros and his 15-year-old son through this ordeal, the staff members at Northern Taphouse have launched several fundraising campaigns to help the family pay for treatment and other living expenses.

Flyers asking people to support Sal Quiros are on every table at Northern Taphouse.
“He’s just a fantastic individual,” said Hellman. “Super kind-hearted, and he’s the reason why we have… if you love the food and love the service here, he’s the reason behind that. And we want him to come back as soon as possible.”
The Northern Taphouse employees created a GoFundMe page that’s raised more than $9,000 as of Aug. 25.
A recent benefit held at Northern Taphouse — as well as an August promotion where Quiros receives a cut of the profit when people buy certain menu items — raised more than $15,000, according to Hellman.
