Plymouth READS Picks ‘This Tender Land’ by William Kent Krueger
Plymouth readers will tackle “This Tender Land” by William Kent Krueger as this year’s Plymouth READS book selection. There will be three virtual events to accompany the selection, one of which is an event where Krueger will be in virtual attendance.
“We try to come up with a book that the community will enjoy, but has some meat, some discussion and some diversity,” explained LuAnn Svendsen with Plymouth READS. “The William Kent Krueger book was chosen. It’s historical fiction. It takes place in 1932 in southwestern Minnesota and it’s an adventure story. I think the group fell in love with the group of characters and the story of four children on the run going down the Mississippi River.”
If the plot makes you think of Mark Twain’s “Huckleberry Finn” then you are thinking in the right direction.
Every year the organization of volunteers picks a book for the community to read together and organizes several events around that book.
